Description
After years of success with tuning the transverse 3.5 EcoBoost in the Explorer Sport, we feel that Ford knocked one out of the park with the Explorer ST. With a more robust powertrain than its transverse predecessor and the potent 3.0 liter engine, power levels available with only a simple intercooler upgrade are quite impressive. As a customer, be assured a level of safety was paramount to each calibration even with the elevated power levels. Transmission tuning is included and eliminates the annoying off-throttle gear holding in sport mode that many complain about as well.
Auto Octane Performance
This file is designed for 87-93 Octane pump gas. For best performance, premium fuel is recommended. The most important aspect included in Gearhead’s tuning is its retention of the factory “auto octane adjustment” feature present in the ECU. This feature allows the ECU to self-adjust according to the type of fuel being used (be it 87, 90, 93 octane, etc.). But, not only does Gearhead keep this feature, they improve it. Gearhead augments the factory auto octane adjustment strategy in a way that allows considerably more power to be made as you step up your octane rating (without changing the tune).
Premium E30 Performance
This file is designed specifically for E30. With just this file, intercooler upgrade, and colder Ford Performance spark plugs, we made just over 500 horse power and 500 lb-ft of torque.
*PE30 is a PREMIUM E30 blend. This will require premium pump fuel + splash blending E85 for a 30% ethanol concentration. E30 found at a blender pump is typically the lowest octane fuel and ethanol blended. E30 from a blender pump is typically comparable to 93 Octane and is not suitable for our PE30 calibration.
**PLEASE NOTE: revisions to your tunes are available for 30 days – after which you will need to purchase a tune revision package. Thank you!**
